Senior Finance Manager - Project Generation and Scopus Foundation
Role Purpose:
This senior finance role ensures the financial sustainability, transparency and control of both Project Generation and the Scopus Foundation. The Senior Finance Manager leads budgeting, reporting, modelling and compliance, while supporting high-stakes decision-making regarding project design, operations, capital campaign funding and partnership structures.
This individual must combine technical financial expertise with the ability to operate at executive and board level, including presenting options and implications through scenario modelling and clear narratives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead financial planning and control across Project Generation and the Foundation, including multi-year budgets, monthly forecasts, and capital expenditure tracking
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to inform project strategy, funding scenarios, and partnership/tenancy decisions
- Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to support high-value strategic choices (e.g. funding pathways, capital structuring, donor naming rights, land use options)
- Oversee cash flow management, reconciliations, and banking arrangements
- Prepare all financial inputs for board reporting, stakeholder presentations, and external audits
- Ensure compliance with ATO, DGR, GST, charitable trust, and financial reporting obligations
- Monitor and support financial aspects of grants, philanthropic pledges, capital campaign tracking, and donor reporting
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, legal/tax advisors and financial institutions
- Set up and support procurement governance, vendor payment processes, and contract reviews
- Ensure financial systems and records are robust, transparent, and aligned with best practice for not-for-profits and major capital projects
Skills & Experience Required:
- CA/CPA qualified with 8+ years of experience in financial control, strategic finance or commercial accounting.
- Strong financial modelling skills, especially for infrastructure, investment, or not-for-profit settings.
- Comfortable using financial analysis to present options and trade-offs to board and leadership teams.
- Experience overseeing large budgets and setting up & managing financial & procurement systems and processes from end to end.
- High-level integrity and ability to handle confidential financial and philanthropic information.
- Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with Xero (or similar) and RE (Raiser’s Edge) or other CRM a plus.
- Familiarity with capital projects, education foundations, or DGR/charity frameworks is highly advantageous.

- Full working rights in Australia.
- National Police Check
- Requirement to travel amongst existing Mount Scopus Memorial College campuses and to other locations as reasonably required as part of the project.

About Project Generation
Project Generation has been established by Mount Scopus Memorial College and Mount Scopus Foundation as a new entity created with the purpose of executing the vision to deliver The Centre for Jewish Life, including a new, consolidated Mount Scopus Memorial College campus at its heart.
The Centre for Jewish Life is a multi-generational project to consolidate Melbourne’s largest Jewish school within the centre of Melbourne’s Jewish population in Caulfield, creating the opportunity for community integration and an expanded program of community use and facilities within the campus.

The Scopus Foundation was established in 1987 to support the work and goals of Mount Scopus Memorial College, and the advancement of facilities and various programs at the school. Through the generosity of our members, donors and bequestors, the Foundation also significantly supports tuition fee relief programs and bursaries, and is committed to building a substantial Endowment Fund to help secure the future of Jewish Education.
